Any business that manufactures, processes, transports, distributes or sells food in India must hold a valid FSSAI license. There are three tiers based on annual turnover: Basic Registration (โค โน12 lakh), State License (โน12 lakhโโน20 Cr), and Central License (> โน20 Cr or import / export).
The 14-digit FSSAI number must be displayed on every product label and on your premises. Operating without one carries fines up to โน10 lakh and possible imprisonment.
